Everything on this site is about children, which is exactly why the strongest protections apply. This page sets out the principles we hold ourselves to, and what happens if a safety concern comes up.
Safeguarding principles
The child's interests come first
Information about a child is collected and used for one purpose: helping the adults around them understand and support them. We design to the spirit of the ICO's Age Appropriate Design Code, the child's best interests are the primary consideration, ahead of any commercial one.
Parents hold the account, children don't
Assembly is built for parents, carers and professionals. Children don't have accounts, aren't messaged by us, and aren't profiled for anything other than the picture their parent asked for.
Not a diagnosis, and clear about it
Assembly builds a picture of strengths and needs. It doesn't diagnose, and it says so wherever a parent might reasonably wonder. Where a profile suggests professional input would help, we say that too, plainly.
Safety concerns are signposted immediately
If something in a conversation suggests a child may be at risk, Assembly's job is to route, not to counsel: we surface urgent-help services (999, NHS 111, Samaritans) clearly and immediately, in the moment.
The minimum data, held with maximum care
We ask for the least information a feature needs, children's data is never used for advertising or model training, and everything on the security page applies doubly here.
